OVERALL PURPOSE

Join our dynamic fintech company on an exciting journey in the world of credit. Lula is a fast-growing organization with a mission to support South African SMEs. This is a role driven by rapid growth within our business. It will form part of the wider Credit team with a core focus on collecting overdue client payments and at the same time continuing to enhance our strong client relationships

As a Collections Analyst at Lula, your role will involve:

  • Client Payment Management: Work closely with the Collections Manager to manage outstanding client payments with an aim to recovering arrears.
  • Collection process adherence: Follow Lula's established collections processes to ensure effective recovery of overdue payments.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and other compliance regulations and security policies.
  • Constant learning: Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to maintain compliance in all collection activities
  • Customer Interaction: Liaise with customers to understand reasons for late payment and resolve billing disputes
  • Dispute resolution :Respond to customer queries promptly and accurately, maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Professional Communication: Manage interactions with all customers diligently, courteously, and professionally while collecting payments.
  • Customer-Centric: Encourage and assist customers to pay overdue amounts while maintaining customer loyalty
  • Negotiation and Payment Plans: Negotiate payment plans in consultation with the Credit Manager and/or credit department. Create repayment schedules based on customers’ financial situations to facilitate timely payments
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Keep electronic records of all communications, payment plans agreed to, and amounts paid. Report daily to the Collections Manager on collection activities, progress, and any issues encountered
  • Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the credit management team to develop and implement effective collection strategies. Participate in training and development programs to stay current with industry best practices

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Matric certificate or equivalent
  • Diploma/Degree in a financial related field would be highly advantageous
  • Previous collections experience preferably in a late stage collections environment
  • A track record of providing excellent customer service
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Ability to cope in an ever-changing environment and flexibility to adapt with it. with lots of moving parts
  • Strong communication and people skills
