OVERALL PURPOSE

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our Azure-based databases. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems while collaborating with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

Responsibilities will include (but is not limited to):

  • Database Management: Design, install, configure, and maintain Azure SQL databases and other database services.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance and optimize query execution, indexing, and storage configurations to ensure optimal operation.
  • Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard data against unauthorized access and breaches.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, data analysts, and system architects to support data needs and promote best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime and impact on users.
  • Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 6+ years experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
  • Experience in Azure cloud environment preferred
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and database scripting.
  • Relational DB experience, preferably MSSQL & Postgres
  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
